I'm just beginning to compile genealogy research, building on some incredible work from a few relatives. Large pieces of our family tree are well-established, and many small fragments exist as well. My goal is to unify the main branches of our family tree, add details where possible, and expand the tree on both my and Melanie's side. One of the biggest challenges is going to be to trace the original immigrants for our branch of the Arthurs.
Based on the research that has already been done, our line of the Arthur family has been traced back as far as the early 1700's in Rowan County, North Carolina. One of my biggest goals is to extend this line further back, to find out who came before that generation, and where the original immigrants were from.
Melanie's parents are 2nd generation Irish and 1st generation Italian, so it will probably be a significant challenge to build that side of the tree. I'm looking forward to trying, though - it should be a very interesting search. I imagine that portion will be a very long-term project.
I am using the Legacy program to assemble all the family tree information. The initial research website I use is Ancestry.com; I will branch out from there as necessary to find other sources of information.
In the Documents section to the right, you can read some of the written accounts that have been compiled for our family. I have transcribed these into electronic form from earlier type-written documents collected through superb research by my relatives.
I am still working to transcribe all the documents I have into electronic form. Once I have them completed I will post them here.
